The Royal Scottish Geographical Society (RSGS) organise a programme of public talks and events across Scotland, many of which comprise their ‘Inspiring Peoples’ Talk series. The talks are bi-weekly and hosted at Edinburgh University’s own Appleton Tower and are free for students and RSGS members!
Previous speakers include award-winning photographer Colin Prior, adventurer Mollie Hughes and Executive Producer of BBC’s ‘Seven Worlds, One Planet’ Jonny Keeling.
The Scottish Student Geography Conference at RSGS’ HQ
On March 11th 2020 we hosted a meet up for the different Geography Societies in Scotland at the Royal Scottish Geographical Society’s Headquarters in Perth. This was the first event of its kind in Scotland, bringing together five different Universities; St Andrews, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and Dundee.
The event was a great opportunity for the societies to share tips on their organisation, successful social events hosted and areas for improvement moving forward. The day started with a tour of the RSGS offices and a talk by Mike Robinson, CEO of the RSGS who highlighted their work and accomplishments; from published magazines, policy advisory to the Scottish Government, to working with Greta Thunberg!
